Women’s Fashion – Advice On Looking Good
Sunday, March 13th, 2011The Spring Summer 2011 fashion season is on the way so those who like to stay ahead of the fashion pack will be looking to update their wardrobe. One of the hottest trends for this season is the 70s look with wide leg culottes, tunics, maxi dresses and oversized sunglasses all featuring heavily on the catwalk. You may not be bold enough to go for the whole look but the maxi dress is easy enough for anyone to wear and you can also incorporate another one of this seasons key trends ‘floral’ by investing in a maxi dress with a flower print.
Flared trousers and jeans are also making a comeback, which will be great news for anyone who isn’t a fan of the skinny jean. Flared jeans can fall into the 70s boho chic category but can also look sexy and sophisticated – think Charlie’s Angels! Unless you are very tall flared jeans always look best when teamed with high heels, wedges and platforms are ideal and also much easy to walk in than stilettos. And it’s not just flared jeans making a comeback, other flared trousers were seen on the catwalk with many featuring bold prints and bright colors – the look is not for the feint of heart but those with an adventurous fashion sense will be sure to embrace this new silhouette.
Skirts for this season were as varied as always however three major trends emerged from the designer shows. The first being the mid-length pencil skirt which has been popular for a couple of seasons now. A newer look for skirts was the pleated skirt and this is a big look for the Spring Summer 2011 season. Ballet inspired skirts were also seen on the catwalks probably due to the success of the Ballet themed Black Swan film. Tutus may sound as if they are difficult to wear but it’s possible to pick up an organza or sheer skirt that is tutu-inspired rather than a full on ballerina’s tutu! Paired with ballerina flats the pleated skirt or tutu is an elegant and feminine look for the summer.
Another very wearable fashion trend for Spring Summer 2011 is the head to toe white look. This is one of those trends that you can incorporate no matter what your shape or size. White tunics were popular on the catwalk and flatter most body types and were seen with lace, embroidery and Broiderie Anglais trimming to fit in with this season’s boho trend. Longer tunics can be worn with flat sandals or shorter ones paired with narrow white trousers.
However if neutral colors are not your thing then don’t worry! Bright and bold neon colors were seen all over the catwalks for Spring Summer 2011. Most colors were seen on the catwalks in an amplified brighter form so you should not have a problem finding something in one of your favorite colors. Bright colors can be difficult to wear but if you stick to one color or color block just two bright colors then you should be able to carry off this look successfully.
