I just had my birthday a few days ago and I thought I would mark my 40th birthday by holding a party with an Asian theme. I thought it would be fun to gown up in kimonos and all. Besides, Asian food for me is absolutely delightful. My friends were all there to have fun my particular day with me and one of them gave me just the great gift a Chinese elm bonsai . What a wonderful 50th birthday gift ideas. I considered, except that I don’t really know how to take care of one. I know I can look at bonsai trees forever and never get tired executing it but when I come to think of it, I really do not know how to look after one.
I took it as a challenge to take care of a bonsai tree. Bonsai raising for me is simply an art a beautiful art, so I did some exploration on how to take care of a bonsai tree, specifically Chinese elm bonsai.
According to what I learned , I was fortunate to be offered a Chinese elm bonsai because it was one of the many bonsai species suited for beginners. Watering should only take place when it dries . It is best to set the pot in a sink filled with an inch of water and let it seep in through the underside holes. As a general rule, Chinese elm should receive more water when exposed to the sun frequently and less when placed indoors.
Repotting and wiring should take place in spring and late spring respectively. Never put some fertilizer right away after repotting since it might burn the roots. Wait for at least four weeks earlier than performing so.
Wiring a Chinese elm bonsai should also be postponed for a few weeks. When it is time to remove the wire, cut it instead of unwinding it to prevent harming/breaking any branches.
